Fire, Ice, and Everything In Between: 11 Days Circling Iceland

Image
Iceland had been sitting on the "someday" list for years, mostly because every video about it starts with a drone shot of a waterfall and ends with someone standing in front of a glacier looking personally victorious. So this June, we finally went and did the thing: flew in, gave ourselves three full days to settle into Reykjavík, then handed the driving over to a small-group BusTravel tour (booked through GetYourGuide) for a 7-day loop around the entire Ring Road and the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, before one last night back in the capital. Here's how it went, plus the food we're still thinking about. Three Days in Reykjavík Before the Real Adventure Started Flying in a few days before the tour started was, without question, the smartest call we made. It absorbed the jet lag, gave us a proper buffer in case of flight delays, and meant we actually got to enjoy the capital instead of just passing through it. Three days sounds like a lot for one city, but Reykjavík rewa...

Pigeon Point Light Station State Historic Park

Heard from a buddy of ours that there is going to be 150th anniversary celebration at the lighthouse and we went there to check it out. We were surprised by how beautiful this lighthouse is and we came to know that there are hostel rooms available to reserve and stay the night here at the lighthouse and this sounds awesome. Drive was amazing with so many unknown beaches with less crowds and Parking was little tricky due to the celebration but we can always find one if we spend some time looking around. It was very windy but place had few booths and a food truck and there was a puppet show for kids as well and beautiful live music and we had a blast here. On the way back, there are so many beautiful view points and beaches and we stopped at a viewpoint for sunset and was breathtaking Would certainly come back to experience the hostel rooms and explore the area around and would recommend for everyone

Wohoo to Oregon

Image
Few years ago, i visited Bigsur via Califonia highway 1 and fell in love with it especially Bixby bridge. i cannot even count the number of folks i recommended or bought them to this place over the years and i still cannot find a beautiful place than this and this is one of the reasons i moved to California. Every-time i visit this place, i feel like am in a different world and how tiny we are in this wide world and show beautiful nature is.   There are some viewpoints where we can see ocean touching these rock formations and it is so amazing that words cannot express and you have to visit and see for yourself. Long story short- Highway 1 made me explore rest of the highway along the Pacific Cost highway. We drove around south which made us wonder how about “North”.   It was Beautiful. Here is how the trip looks like. You start from San Jose and visit Seattle via Burney Falls, Crate Lake and Portland and return via Oregon coast highway There are definitely a whole lot of beaut...
